Preface

On the foundation of the People's Republic of China, Chinese dance prospered. Pioneers created a new stage for art. They took the lead in learning new things, devoted themselves whole-heartedly to new innovations and shouldered the responsibility for Cultivating new forms of art.

Professional song and dance troupes, financially supported by central or local governments, were set up one after another Professional dancers, taking advantage of the new policies, developed and expanded robustly. Through efforts of generations, the creation of new dances became more widespread.
